Description:
In 1886, the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) began wearing a black jacket instead of the formal tail coat. An American guest of the Prince, James Brown Potter, brought the look to the United States. He wore his jacket to the Tuxedo Club in Tuxedo Falls, New York. Soon the new style became known as "The Tuxedo".
