I am in two weddings this year. I was measured at Aimee Michelle Bridal and then a week later, I was measured at Jay West. Both places had different measurements for my hips so I was remeasured. (I am one of those lucky people whose hips are a little more than a few sizes larger than my waist and chest…) Anyway, come to find out, Aimee Michelle Bridal was 4 inches off with my hip measurement. Luckily, the dress wasn’t ordered yet so they checked the size chart and corrected my slip. I paid my deposit and was on my way. Isn’t that what most people do? Don’t most people trust the person measuring her since, after all, this is what they do for a living. 3 months later, the dresses arrived (late I might add). I went in as soon as I received a phone call to try mine on. Surprise…my dress was too small in my hips. I told her I hated the dress as it did not fit. I asked to see the size chart. My dress size clearly did not match my hip size. She ordered my dress a size too small. She said the dress can be let out. I asked if they are going to be responsible for that and she said no. I said why would you order a dress size smaller than my hip size. She said it’s an A line dress (guessing maybe they run a little bigger in the hip area) and it is cheaper for me to have the dress let out as opposed to having the top taken in. (Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that my decision and not theirs?) I already have to have the top reconstructed because of my lovely pear shaped body. The top is already huge. If she went up a size, it would not have made a difference in the amount of work being done on the top. Would have been nice if she would have discussed this with me prior to ordering the wrong size. I didn’t think to check the chart before she ordered because I trusted that she knew what she was doing. They obviously ordered the wrong size and are now telling me it can easily be fixed but at my expense. The bride also purchased her dress there as well as the entire bridal party. They could at least try to accommodate me and cover the cost to have it let out. I am going back tomorrow with the Bride to argue. Wish me luck!! They are very unfair, unprofessional individuals that own and run this shop. I would not recommend Aimee Michelle Bridal to my worst enemy. I also checked the Better Business Bureau and saw 3 complaints listed for Aimee Michelle Bridal as well as found complaints online. |
